Lily Lothrop is a Soprano based in Troy, NY.
Lily graduated from Smith College in Northampton with a degree in Music and a concentration in Vocal Performance, where she studied under soprano Kate Saik. Lothrop made her operatic debut performing “Ach, ich fühls” during OperaNotte at The Whitney Center (Pittsfield) in 2018. In September 2018, she sang in the chorus of La Traviata with PanOpera solidifying her love for the craft. Later that year, she participated in a masterclass with acclaimed soprano Helena Brown who marveled at the power and control Lothrop's voice possessed at such a young age.
In 2019, Lily won the Smith College Concerto Competition with her rendition of "Signore, Ascolta." Lothrop joined the chorus of Berkshire Opera Festival for Don Pasquale in 2019 and again in 2021 for Falstaff. In 2021, she won the Judith Raskin Memorial Prize for Outstanding Vocalist at Smith College. She gained entrance to young artist summer programs in Florence and Montreal, both of which were interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lothrop is a frequent soloist of the Berkshire Lyric Chorus, performing the soprano solo in Charpentier's Messe de Minuit pour Noel (Dec. 2021) and the Pie Jesu from Faurés Requiem (Mar. 2022). She was the final soloist of the Berkshire Lyric Young Singers Recital, performing a set of arias by Massenet, Mozart, and Lehar. (Aug. 2022) Recently, Lothrop sang solos in O Salutaris Hostia (Ešenvalds) and Great Day (Hogan) with Ubi Caritas Choir (Aug. 2022). In 2024, she made her Ozawa Hall debut as the soprano soloist in Bruckner’s Mass in F minor. She currently maintains a vocal studio at Troy Music Academy as well as a private studio. She is always looking for classical opportunities within the Capital Region.
